Stadler Gibbons Band at Mantra Wines

881 Grant Ave, Novato, CA

9/20/2024 - 7:00 to 9:00 PM

We put this band together in 2003 to play the legendary Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco.

We play an eclectic mix of material drawn from the best of mid-century country music, including haunting duets, great songs from exceptional writers still toiling away today, and a slew of band originalswith emphasis on stories..

I mainly play guitar and sing, though mandolin creeps in as well.

Mary GIbbons has played and toured with a number of bands, among them The All Girl Boys and Laurie Lewis and Her Bluegrass Pals. In SGB she drives the beat on rhythm guitar and sings both lead and harmony in this song-driven band. Mary also brings a raft of originals to the set list.

Jon Mitguard is an in-demand pedal steel player (Danny Click & Hell Yeah, Gale Lynn & Her Hired Hands, among others) known for exquisite taste, timing and tone. He also sparkles on the resophonic guitar, sings (& writes), and adds the third voice to trios.

Michael Leal Price keeps our tempo honest with his deft touch and impeccable timing on the upright bass. He's much in demand (He's a bassist!), largely in the Jazz world. He played with Dan Hicks in his last band.

Mantra offers a lovely, comfortable tasting room with plenty of seating in a light-filled space. Their wines are not to be missed, especially their Greek whites (IMHO).
